Use this guide to make a clearer decision before you brief, order, or review a design project.

A complete brief gets you an accurate quote faster and reduces back-and-forth. Copy this template into an email or use our online brief flow — the same questions, pre-structured.

1. Brand and product

  • Brand name and product name
  • One-sentence product description
  • Target customer (who buys this, and why?)
  • Main competitors or shelf references (links or photos)
  • Brand personality in 3 words (e.g. "premium, natural, bold")

2. Packaging format

  • Type: label / sleeve / box / pouch / bottle / jar / other
  • Dimensions or printer dieline (attach PDF if you have it)
  • Print method: digital / flexo / litho / unknown
  • Finish: matte / gloss / soft-touch / foil / emboss
  • Number of SKUs (flavours, sizes, variants)

3. Content on pack

  • Front panel headline / product claim
  • Full ingredients or materials list (for food/cosmetics)
  • Allergen information (food)
  • Net weight / volume
  • Barcode placement requirements
  • Regulatory text (INCI, nutrition, warnings)
  • Brand story or back-panel copy (word count)

4. Visual direction

  • Existing logo and brand colours (attach files)
  • 3 packaging designs you admire (with notes on what you like)
  • Colours to avoid
  • Photography: do you have product shots or need mockups?

5. Practical constraints

  • Launch date / print deadline
  • Printer contact (if artwork goes direct to them)
  • Budget range (helps studio recommend the right scope)
  • Approver — one named decision-maker

6. Deliverables you need

  • ☐ Print-ready PDF with bleed
  • ☐ Editable source files (AI/PSD)
  • ☐ 3D mockup renders for web/social
  • ☐ Printer specification sheet
